melancolonic knots tug
grief with gratitude

many sleepless nights
thinking about you and us
tossing and turning

it is a huge loss
the intimacy we shared
on many levels

still being in love
and needing to make a change
was the hardest thing

you may not know that
losing track of your daughter
is another loss

just when I had thought
